Treat yo’ self: ‘Gourmet’ Breakfast in Under Two Minutes

The requirements for food in my house these days – quick, healthy and delicious. (As a new breastfeeding mama I’ve prioritized eating filling healthy foods that also keeps my milk flowing, and this checks all the boxes.) Our family friend, Bonnie emailed me a recipe a few weeks back, so I put my healthy spin on it and voila! If you live in L.A., you’d end up paying $15 for this at any brunch hot-spot.

Ok, here it is. The gourmet breakfast that takes less than 2 minutes to make…

You’ll need the following for 2 servings:

  • 1 c. Old fashion oats (NOT steal-cut)
  • 1 c. almond milk (or whatever milk you’re into)
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. yogurt
  • chia seeds
  • cinnamon
  • honey
  • fresh berries (or fruit of your choice)

In a large mixing bowl, mix oats & milk with yogurt (I prefer thick coconut yogurt from our local farmer’s market), sprinkle in your desired amount of chia seeds. I go overboard here. Trust me. You can’t mess this one up.

Stir in cinnamon and honey to your liking for sweetening.

Pour in to two cups and add a handful  blueberries, raspberries or anything else you like on top for antioxidants. Cover in the fridge for 5+ hours.

I like to make 4-5 servings on Sunday nights to make the weekday mornings a little easier. There’s nothing better (as a new mom who’s burning hundreds of calories a day) than feeling like you have really delicious healthy food in the fridge!

I found it! The product that changed everything!

Life Hack: Get Glowing Skin while Detoxing, in 2 minutes!

“How”, you ask?  Dry Skin Brushing!

It’s instant gratification, super easy and it’s the cheapest way to see and feel major benefits to your skin right away!

We are detoxing your body by eliminating toxins, removing dead skin (which is why you’re going to experience softer glowing skin), activating red blood cells to stimulate healing, getting your lymph nodes moving, oh and smoothing and fighting cellulite! Do you need any other reasons?!

The best part… it takes less than 2 minutes to dry brush your entire body! (That’s less time than I wait to make a left-hand turn into my office parking lot.)

How To Dry Skin Brush

If you aren’t a frequent browser in the bath and cosmetic section at Whole Foods, you may be asking, “Where do I buy said brush?” There are many reputable places to pick up this handy new tool, but please don’t spend more than $14! You can find awesome brushes at your local grocery store for about $7 or so. Just be sure to find one with a long handle so you aren’t awkwardly straining to reach your back.

The “Glow” Juice

Kreation Kafe is a “go-to” because it’s incredibly fresh, carpeted in bright green AstroTurf and cute puppies, while reclaimed wood and succulents hug all of the big open windows looking out on Abbot Kinney for perfect people watching (my kind of place)!

[Queue the angels singing and harps playing]…. I give you “The Glow Juice” recipe.

Now, we can all make these awesome bougie juices (but far less diluted, and much fresher) for under $5, and triple the ounces of glow all week!

Ready, set, juice!!

1 green pepper, 1 orange, 1 large cucumber, 1 1/2 green apples, and a few inches of peeled aloe. You can add 3-4 cups of water to stretch the juice longer, and make it more of an actual juice, less of a thick smoothie. 

So, what makes these 5 very simple ingredients so worthy of your blender’s blades? 

Green Peppers: Silicon-rich pepper, supports complexion doing as much for your skin as a moisturizer. Also a great source for potassium, which balances fluids and minerals in your body to regulate blood pressure.

Aloe Vera: Cellular regeneration, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and detoxification all contribute to the stabilization aided by consumption of Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is also known to improve the immune system and promote fast recovery from illness.

Cucumber: high in water, flush toxins that impede normal GI and urinary function. Also, equally hydrating as water, but more nutritious than water.
